This week's boxes will be a bit of a mix as we use up some of the smaller crops we've planted. Along with harvesting and delivering we've been doing a lot of work preparing for the next season of growing, starting thousands of seedlings and preparing new garden plots. Sign up for Autumn is now open on the website if you go to the Shop - https://www.providencehillproduce.com/shop/.
We are also featuring some beautiful apples and pears from 4 Winds Farm a gorgeous organic farm/orchard in Bilpin. We are hoping to feature some more of their produce in the future too. They also grow plums, peaches, cherries, apricots and blueberries. If you ever want to visit and pick your own, check them out at http://www.4windsfarmbilpin.com.au or on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/4windsfarmbilpin/.
So in addition to apples and pears, this week you can expect a mix of:
Tomatoes - they have struggled in last week's heat wave, and we've been trying our best to keep the water up to them, but with the little bit of rain we had a fair number have split.
Cucumber - also struggled in the heat, so we're just watering them and trying to help them recover.
Zucchini - just starting to benefit from some fertilisation. Hoping they'll be back up to top production quantities soon.
Green stir fry mix - a mix of brassicas like pak choy, tatsoi and kale to stir fry.
Basil or parsley - one or the other. Coming to the end of the basil but we've just planted more parsley and our March coriander planting is germinating well too.
Eggplant or capsicum - we're still on the verge of the eggplant bonanza. It's been a really strange Summer season and they're quite late this year. We'll be making sure we plant some of the earliest maturing varieties next Spring so that we can have an earlier crop.
Broccoli shoots or baby cabbage - just a taste of what we will be growing stacks of in Autumn.
You may also receive some of the following - turnips, radishes, beet leaves (great as a massaged salad with an apple cider vinegar/olive oil/garlicy dressing), lettuces and leeks.
Hope you have a great week and we'll see you on either Monday or Wednesday for delivery.
