Getting ready for the Summer Season

At Providence Hill Produce we are busy getting ready for the Summer Season. We are so thankful for those who have chosen to support us during our first season and we are looking forward to being able to provide you with 16 weeks of home-grown, pesticide free, local, seasonal produce.

At the moment, we have zucchinis going wild, the first tomatoes have been ripening and purple and green beans are going well. Carrots are germinating well but might not be ready until a few boxes into the season. Cucumbers are fruiting so it won't be long until our first ones. Capsicums have started fruiting, but it'll take a fair bit of warm weather to ripen them. Pumpkins and squash are starting to fruit and we have lettuces and baby leaf mix coming up too.

We want to start off our box season on a really great note, so there's a chance we won't start delivering until early Feb. We'll make sure we sent around emails and texts to keep you in the loop. A number of people are away until school goes back anyway, so we trust you'll bear with us while we get our timings and systems sorted.

On another note, we've had 8 lambs born throughout December and have 2 ewes still due to drop in the near future. It's been really exciting seeing the first lambs born and we've been learning as we go with a lamb who was abandoned by it's mum. We've been bottle feeding it and she even came with us on our Christmas visits.

To those who are supporting us, again, a huge thank you. We can't wait to get to know you and have you as part of the Providence Hill community.

Here are a few pics from the market garden to give you a taste of what is to come.
